We Didn't Crash!

On Saturday morning bright and early Buzz and I got up to go and redeem his Christmas gift from two years ago. I bought him a flying lesson that I could tag along for. At the time it seemed like a great idea, but as the time grew near and I thought about not having a will and started telling people my final wishes just in case, I got a little nervous.
We headed down to Montgomery Field to this place.
Our instructor was great and spent over an hour of preflight prep with Buzz. Once we got in the air the view was fabulous. We even flew over by SDSU so I could see my old apartment. I was amazed at how well Buzz did flying and how great the instructor was. I was suprised at how smooth take off and landing were. Way smoother than in a big plane. As we touched down the instructed said, "hey we didn't crash." HaHa, but seriously thank you.

New Years Eve

So I know New Years Eve was almost a month ago and I just got the pictures and thought they were to cute to skip. So here is a quick recap of our New Years. We started off with yummy food and pinochle games.
Then the kids decorated gingerbread men and promptly ate them.
Apparently the gingerbread was not enough to fill Austin's stomach because he tried to convince Toby that he needed his dog treat.
As the East coast new year drew closer we got outfitted with hats and blowers and some really loud cranky things. Right at midnight the kids took turns blowing their horns with Great Grandma. I think these pictures are so precious.

Snip Snip

The other morning Carter took it upon himself to trim up a few spots in Austin's hair.
It's not so bad, but still our first adventures in scissors.

Go Cougars!

This week Buzz took Carter to his first college basketball game. They went with a group of guys from church to go watch BYU take on USD. Carter absolutely loved it. He came home talking about how high they could jump and all the shots they made AND the girls that gave him a BYU t-shirt. Apparently there was a bit a flirting going on.

Tricycle

Last week Austin taught himself to ride his tricycle and he hasn't stopped riding since. He has this intense look of concentration on his face and he stares at his feet pushing the peddles
And his helmet is size 5 years, btw.

Haircuts

On Saturday morning Carter came home from an activity at church and demanded to have his hair cut. His friend Charlie cut his hair and Carter didn't want to be left out of all the fun.
I love the way Carter looks with short hair. I feel like his facial features are more prominent and that his sweet smile radiates. Of course after Carter got his haircut Austin demanded the same. I really didn't want his haircut and thought maybe Buzz would give him a pretend haircut, but no such luck.
It turned out pretty cute, but I think I still prefer his a little longer.

Santa Claus

On our way up to Livermore for Christmas we stopped off at my parents for a night. The next morning just happened to be their wards Christmas Party, so we popped in to meet a very special visitor.
Both boys were very impressed that Santa knew their names when he called them to come sit on his lap. Carter new exactly what to do. He marched right over to Santa and told him what he wanted for Christmas. Austin was a little skeptical, but warmed up to him after a minute or two and told him what he wanted for Christmas. Both boys were very impressed Santa knew then by name and called them over to him.
After a picture with the boys we got one with all the cousins. Aren't they cute.
